Second Song

Ring, Ring, ring, ring oh ye bells in gladness
Sing boys, sing, sing and be happy today--
Vanish ills, vanish ye visions of sadness
Joy must reign when trials have passed away
     Brighter the sun shines
     Closer the vine twines
Round the oak that would its mother be
     Whether the days clear
     Whether the days drear
Shall we fondly cling to Emory.

Chorus
March on--we are comrades, happy comrades
Ninety eight with her banner flowing bright
     (Then let us all together)
Join the fray (e'en today) happy hearted, never parted;
This our cry, battle cry, "hail to Emory and right.

(2)
When the night smiles on the army around us,
When the stars light the bivouac of the brave,
Though the foes multiply, thousands surround us.
Shall we singing never become his slaves,
     Be the war gory
     Shall we in Story
Live again the dead & burried [sic] [buried] past
     Moments of pleasure--
     Richly we'll treasure
Till Death's bugle blows for taps its blast.
