Three thousand one hundred and eighty-one persons lost their lives, and nine hundred and thirty-five others suffered bodily injuries by accidents, upon American railroads or steam-boats, or by explosions of powder magazines, or the fall of buildings, in America, during the period between the close of the war for the Union and the 31st ult.--just five months.
